LIKE-A-PRO, the new EU-funded project, gets underway
The project under the title “From niche to mainstream-Alternative proteins for everybody”, better known under the acronym LIKE-A-PRO, aims to create promising protein food products for the entire population, thus facilitating people’s healthy and sustainable diets.
As the title of the project indicates, the aim is to move this type of product from being part of a niche to being integrated and consumed by the entire population, even those living in more remote rural areas. To this end, it is essential to accelerate the change of proteins and to offer a wide variety of possibilities that appeal to different consumer profiles, from children to the elderly.
To meet this challenge, a total of 16 new products with 7 different proteins will be developed during the 4 years of the project (2022-2026).
Financing
This project has been funded with 13.909.092,76 €, of which 11.999.659,64 € have been financed by the European Union. For years, the EU has been a strong supporter of alternative proteins, constantly investing in projects and research such as PROTEIN2FOOD.
