Sanygran strengthens its commitment to Innovation and Sustainability in the BIOGREENFOOD Project
At Sanygran, we are thrilled to be part of BIOGREENFOOD, a pioneering initiative that aims to revolutionise the agro-food industry by developing healthy ingredients through the use of sustainable and advanced technologies. This large-scale project is focused on creating healthier foods by harnessing cutting-edge biotechnology, and it stands out for its ability to integrate both innovation and environmental responsibility.
What is the BIOGREENFOOD Project?
The primary goal of the BIOGREENFOOD project is the application of advanced technologies and biotechnologies to produce food ingredients rich in high added-value proteins. These proteins are characterised by their easy nutrient assimilation, good digestibility, and the functionality they provide in various food applications.
Among the products being developed in the project are concentrated, hydrolysed, and fermented proteins, which not only have an excellent nutritional profile but also offer additional properties beneficial to health.
With this approach, the project aims to mark a turning point in the food industry by improving the quality of the products reaching our tables, while minimising the environmental impact of their production.
Key Objectives of the Project
The key objectives of BIOGREENFOOD are as follows:
- Obtaining Ingredients and Bioactive Compounds: Development of new ingredients and bioactive compounds from legumes and vegetable by-products through the use of (bio)technologies and sustainable processes.
- Health Benefits and Industrial Application: Creation of healthy foods that offer health benefits and are suitable for industrial application.
- Promotion of a Sustainable Food System: Development of products with a high level of organoleptic acceptability, based on a circular economy model.
A Collaborative Project
BIOGREENFOOD is a collaborative initiative involving leading companies in the agro-food sector, such as Ingredalia, Trevijano, Alinter Alimentación, Galar Foods, and Grupo AN. In addition, the project is supported by two prestigious universities: the University of Navarra (UNAV) and the Public University of Navarra (UPNA), both of which contribute their expertise in research and development. Furthermore, the project includes the participation of the Navarre Agro-food Cluster (NAGRIFOOD), ensuring a high level of collaboration and innovation.
The project is funded by the Government of Navarra through programmes that promote innovation and sustainability in the agro-food industry. This support highlights the Government’s commitment to fostering a greener and more competitive economy and emphasises the importance of public-private partnerships in the development of high-impact projects within the region.
Looking Ahead
Our participation in the BIOGREENFOOD project reinforces our commitment to innovation and sustainability, core values that define our business activities. At Sanygran, we firmly believe that initiatives such as BIOGREENFOOD are essential for progressing towards a healthier and more environmentally responsible food future.
We will continue to work closely with our partners to achieve the goals of this ambitious project and will keep our clients and collaborators informed of the progress of BIOGREENFOOD. We would like to thank the Government of Navarra, as well as all participants, for their continued support and collaboration in carrying out this transformative initiative.
