HIDROPEP Project: New Derivatives, New Food Perspectives

In a world where the search for healthy and sustainable alternatives is increasingly relevant, the market for plant-based protein products is constantly expanding. In this scenario, the HIDROPEP project emerges, a collaborative initiative led by the Grupo AN in which Alimentos Sanygran, Monbake, Nucaps, El Caserío, and two research organizations, the University of Navarra (UNAV) and the National Center for Food Technology and Safety (CNTA), actively participate.

Exploring New Frontiers in Plant Proteins

Under the title “Development, functional evaluation, and industrial applicability of new plant protein derivatives,” HIDROPEP will apply open innovation methodologies to leverage crops and technologies present in Navarra. It will focus on obtaining foods with proteins of high added value in terms of health, considering functionality, nutrient bioavailability, and digestibility. Among the alternatives explored are concentrated, hydrolyzed, and fermented proteins, using approaches and technological solutions applicable in the agri-food industry.

The Future of Food: HIDROPEP in Action

HIDROPEP, conceived within the Agri-Food Cluster of Navarra (NAGRIFOOD),, will unfold over three years, supported by the 2023 I+D strategic projects call in the Alpes Challenge for personalised and sustainable food, with funding from the Government of Navarra. As we mentioned before, Its main focus is the research of new foods that include plant protein derivatives of high-added value, with emphasis on industrial applicability and consumer acceptability.

In addition to nutritional and organoleptic aspects, the project will also integrate studies on gender perspective, market research, and environmental impact analysis. This initiative not only propels innovation in the food industry but also addresses contemporary concerns related to sustainability and health.

In summary, the HIDROPEP project represents a significant step towards the future of food, where collaboration and innovation come together to offer sustainable and delicious alternatives based on vegetable proteins. Alimentos Sanygran, along with other participants, is committed to this journey that will transform the way we perceive and consume food globally.
